Do you ever feel like you’re faking it?

You spend your day in meetings where you are poised, present and purposeful only to come home and scream at your kids.

You have great experience and an advanced degree, but you second-guess your abilities to get to the next level.

You wouldn’t miss your boss’s staff meetings every week but find it hard to show up to the yoga class you love.

I get it, Lady.

I was working hard at work, but it was hardly working.

I’d come home from a long day, extremely stressed and tired. I had no energy to be present, let alone play with and parent my kids.

With nearly 20 years of work experience, in a variety of corporate settings, an M.B.A, the fancy titles, stellar performance reviews and the industry awards, I still doubted myself.

I had endless subscriptions to fitness and diet programs but ate and drank my feelings when I had a rough day.

I read a lot of self-help books and listened to all the podcasts, but applied nothing consistently.

I wanted more out of life but felt stuck.

I got very used to waiting for things to change around me instead of standing in my own power.

Stressed? There is pinot in the fridge.

Overwhelmed? Just do more on the weekends.

You feel judged for wanting more out of your own life because you have so much to do for those who you need to support.

I get it because that was my life.

I would buy books and listen to podcasts and change my plan of action like I’d change my shoes.

My boss couldn’t help me because she was on the same treadmill.

I felt like a hot mess on the inside, even though the outside looked okay.

Until on a milestone birthday, I decided I needed to start being honest with what I wanted to create out of this one, limited, beautiful life.

I didn’t want to pass this way of being onto my kids. I wanted my girls to believe in themselves. I wanted them to know that they can have a successful career and be a great mom. I wanted them to know that taking care of themselves wasn’t a luxury, but a necessity.

I wanted my kids to learn by setting conscious examples, versus making unconscious mistakes.

That meant creating a new vision for my life.

I didn’t know how I was going to change my life, but I knew I had to make big changes.

I started with what work looked like for me.

And I changed my thinking and then I changed my career.

Then I went on to what my health meant to me and how I needed to show up differently for myself.

And I changed my thinking, and I changed my body.

Then I thought about what kind of mother I wanted to be.

And I changed how I thought about parenting and changed how I showed up for my kids.

I had one principle through this journey: Change my mind and I can change my world.

It took two years to make these changes. Two years of:

·      Learning to develop unconditional self-esteem

·      Learn to keep things simple

·      Learn to manage my time so I could show up for me

And I am still growing.

I am just like you.

A woman who wants work and life to better reflect her whole-self.
